Mumbai, May 9 -- Salman Khan received some relieving news on Friday (May 8) when the Bombay High Court suspended the sentence (a five-year jail term) announced by the Session's Court on May 6.

Shortly after the new development, several industry members came out in support of the judgement.

Sources suggest that Salman's family members were, too, relieved. As the next hearing is set to take place in July, we speak to film-makers and actors who have stood by the Bollywood actor, about their take on the latest turn of events.

INDUSTRY SPEAKS

VIPUL SHAH, FILM-MAKER On a personal level, those who know Salman must be feeling very relieved. And from the industry point of view, too, it must have come as a big relief, since he can now wrap up his pending work.

HIMESH RESHAMMIYA, COMPOSER Salman bhai is one of the most generous souls I have ever met, and a great human being. We are thankful to God that he has been granted bail.

DAISY SHAH, ACTOR I am really happy that the High Court has suspended the sentence. The verdict was extremely harsh and unfair. He was actually paying the price of being a superstar. It's a relief for now, but we are still praying for the matter to be terminated forever, and turn in Salman's favour.

ANEES BAZMEE, DIRECTOR This is a result of the blessings of Salman's fans. It's a big relief. Whoever works with him, develops a personal rapport with him because of his kind nature. He has earned a lot of respect, and that's why so many people from the industry support him.

RAMESH TAURANI, PRODUCER We are happy. Salman should be treated as a normal citizen. The law should be equal for everyone. He shouldn't be treated differently because he's a celebrity.

BHUSHAN KUMAR, PRODUCER We are celebrating because he is a dear friend. I am not commenting on the law, but Salman bhai is a very good human being. He is very helpful. It is nice to hear that he has got bail, and I hope everything becomes fine now.
