Screaming reports that the new Salman Khan starrer, Jai Ho, has gone to Eros International for Rs.110 crores has sources close to Salman saying the price is much higher. "It's much more than Rs. 110 crores. We haven't put a finger on the final sum, but it'd be closer to Rs. 180 crores. And the deal is not closed yet," says a source.
According to sources, the film's producer-director is also in negotiations with UTV and Viacom 18 over Jai Ho.
Eros is desperately keen to acquire the rights since they haven't acquired the production/distribution rights of any film featuring any of the Khan superstars in the last one year. The company's roster this year has no A-listers. The hero of their next release Ram Leela is the self-styled star Ranveer Singh, and after that it's the down-and-out Shahid Kapoor in R... Rajkumar.
Whether Eros finally gets Salman's prized premium product, the superstar's first releasein 17 months, depends on how far the negotiations go with other production companies. One hears UTV whose last blockbuster Chennai Express starred Shah Rukh are also keen to release Salman's next film worldwide.
When contacted to confirm the 110-crore deal, Sohail Khan laughed saying, "Please don't under-sell my film.I am shooting in Panvel and quite cut from what is being written."
I tried to contact Eros International for their version of this tall tale. No reply was forthcoming. It figures.
