New Delhi, July 15 -- Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who has turned director with the Salman Khan-starrer, Kick, is so caught up with the post-production of his debut directorial that he had to miss the mahurat shot of another film he's producing, Tamasha, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
Sources tell us that the filmmaker was unable to attend the mahurat of the Imtiaz Ali directorial Tamasha in France on July 11, since he's been spending most of his time in the editing room these days.
According to a source from the production house, "Sajid sir has spent more than 72 hours at a stretch inside the editing room. He is so caught up with Kick that he decided to skip flying to France."
The source adds that both Imtiaz and Ranbir were hoping to have Sajid there. And since the producer couldn't attend the mahurat, Imtiaz called him after the first shot. When contacted, Sajid confirmed, "I wanted to be there for the mahurat of Tamasha. But with the release of Kick coming closer, it has me completely immersed. Both Ranbir and Imtiaz messaged after the mahurat shot."
Starring former couple Ranbir and Deepika, the film's first shoot schedule will take place entirely in picturesque Corsica, France. This will be the second time Sajid and Imtiaz will collaborate after Highway earlier this year.
The source adds, "Sajid has had a great run in the first half of 2014. With Tamasha, he is looking to add to that list. It promises to be one of the biggest films of next year."
The source adds that Sajid is "not only investing in a lot of young talent, but also in varied content". Having been a creative director for 27 years, his venture into direction with Kick comes with a lot of experience. "Sajid may not have directed a film before, but he's worked with extremely talented directors, and gained a lot of experience. He's applied all of it to Kick," the source adds. The film is slated to release on July 25, around Eid.
