New Delhi, Oct. 18 -- Though Kasautii Zindagii Kay went off air almost five years back, but actor Ronit Roy, who played Rishabh Bajaj in the popular telly show (which was produced by Ekta Kapoor), says he owes his career to Ekta and the character.
"My first big step in my career was Kasautii Zindagii Kay where I played the parallel lead, Rishabh Bajaj. I owe a lot to that character and to Ekta Kapoor for her faith in me. I was a dead actor at that time and she brought me back to life. I will be eternally thankful to her for this," says the 48-year-old.
Ronit, who will soon be seen on the big screen in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Boss, is very excited about playing the dark character in the film. Ronit, who was in the Capital on Monday, shares, "It is a complete masala film. It has everything from comedy to masala to romance. I am playing a character that is black, ruthless and extremely bad. He has no redemption. It was very good to be bad."
Besides acting in the film, Ronit seems to have had a great time with Akshay. "More than working with Akshay, just being with him is pure thrill. He is a man who just takes things in his stride and nothing bothers him. He lights up the room with his great energy."
Ask him if he is planning to quit the small screen for films and Ronit, who feels that TV doesn't have too many quality shows, says, "I'm committed to my show Adaalat for another 8-10 months. I will take the call on whether to do TV or not after that."
However, right now he is busy with some film projects. "I am doing Karan's (Johar) 2 States where I am playing Arjun's (Kapoor) father. It's a sort of negative role. It's a small special guest appearance." Ask him if he plans to work with his actor-anchor brother Rohit Roy and he says, "I would love to, but let's see when that happens."
