New Delhi, July 4 -- Be it personally or professionally - actor Riteish Deshmukh is a happy man. He will soon be a dad as his wife, actor Genelia Deshmukh is expecting their first child.
"Both of us are very excited at this moment and looking forward to this new phase of parenthood. I want to thank everyone for their wishes. Having said that, I'm a bit wary of speaking too much about this special moment in my life," says the 35-year-old.
Professionally, Riteish is basking in the success of his recently-released Mohit Suri's directorial. Calling it the best phase of his career, he says: "I've been universally loved by everyone for my negative role in the film. I'm finally being recognised as an actor who is capable of doing more than just comedy and I'm very happy about it," says Riteish, who began his career in Bollywood with the film, Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003.
Many actors have turned politicians. And, Riteish has a political connect as well. His father, late Vilasrao Deshmukh, was a known politician. So, does he wish to set foot in politics anytime soon? "I haven't thought about it. I don't know what the future holds for me. For now, I'm excited about being in films and want to concentrate on my career as an actor. Moreover, I believe that to be in active politics, one needs undivided attention," says Riteish.
