New Delhi, May 25 -- The eleventh day at the Cannes Film Festival brought home much cheer. Neeraj Ghaywan's directorial debut Masaan, which features actors Richa Chadha and Sanjai Mishra, won two top honours at the festival - the Promising Future Prize and the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci) Award, on Saturday.
The film was showcased in the UnCertain Regard section at the movie gala. Ghaywan, in a statement, said: "I'm ecstatic to win these two awards for India and the team of Masaan more than myself ".
Meanwhile, the Hindi film frat couldn't stop tweeting congratulatory messages to the team. Actor Arjun Kapoor tweetted: "So Masaan makes India proud overseas...hope n pray it gets the platform in India to be showcased to our audience the way it deserves...".
The day also saw the premiere of Oscar-winning actor Marion Cotillard and actor Michael Fassbender's Macbeth. Richa had quite a fangirl moment when she met her idol Marion at the do. Actor Mallika Sherawat also attended the screening of Macbeth.
