Mumbai, Feb. 4 -- Ranveer Singh is one of the few actors who has fiercely guarded his parents from the media glare. Ask him about this and he says that he simply doesn't wish for them to be around while he's working.
"They were there when I won my debut award. Otherwise, I'm usually performing at these functions and I don't let them come there or on my film sets," says Ranveer, adding that their presence is a distraction for him.
The actor further explains, "I keep them away because I'm so invested in them that they become my focus. I want them to be comfortable and treated right. I don't want them to feel lost in the chaos of the sets, and at the same time, I want to be able to focus on my work. You could have a lakh people watching me dance naked and I won't feel conscious, but if my mom is watching, I get conscious."
Ranveer admits that while his mother resents this attitude, "she understands it now". He did, however, take her on the sets of his 2013 film, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. "She insisted on seeing what a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie set functions like. But I prefer keeping my parents away. It's my personal space, and also, I don't want them to become public figures. I want them to just be my family."
