Mumbai, Aug. 15 -- While Bollywood actors are mostly busy with their packed schedules, Rani Mukerji took time out to visit army personnel in the Baramulla district (of Jammu and Kashmir).
The two-day trip took place from August 10 to 11, ahead of Independence Day. "It was heartening to see Rani interacting with the jawans. She had long conversations with them about their everyday lives and regimes. And, the jawans were extremely happy to share their experiences with her," says a source close to the actor.
Besides the jawans, Rani also met the families of some of the army personnel and and interacted with them.
"They were pleasantly surprised [by her visit], and excited to spend time with her," adds the source. The actor also witnessed a rock climbing exercise that the jawans organised specially for her.
When contacted, Rani shares her experience, saying, "It was an emotional and thrilling experience for me to spend time with our soldiers in Baramulla. They guard our country's borders tirelessly, and keep us safe. I was fortunate that I got to spend quality time with them and their families. I also got a chance to meet the widows of [some of] our soldiers, and it was heartening to know that they have encouraged their sons to join the army."
