Rishi keeps Ranbir 'on hold'!

By HT

Mumbai, April 11 -- The Kapoors last made a film under their iconic family banner, RK Films, in 1999.    After the Rishi Kapoor directed Aa Ab Laut Chalen, the production house hasn't come out with another film.

And now, as Ranbir Kapoor gets ready to turn producer, we ask Kapoor Sr if they plan to make more films.

Do you have any plans to revive RK Films? I don't know if my brothers are planning something. I don't have the time, since I am too busy as an actor and have no inclination right now.    But I have no idea what will happen tomorrow. I might just get 'inspired' again. We are in the profession of inspiration and not a conveyor belt manufacturing films.

We have heard that Ranbir wants to try his hand at film-making.

Yes, Ranbir is very keen on making a film, but he is also very busy. He does one film in a year -the gap between his last and upcoming release is more than 13 months.    So ideally, I don't want to see him making a film at this stage of his career.

Will he make films a few years down the line?

Ultimately, he will. In fact, it's me who has kept Ranbir on hold (laughs). Else, he would have made three or four films by now. I told him to make his name as an actor first and work as an actor for 10-20 years. We are all trained to make films; Ranbir has learned and studied cinema.    Acting is something he imbibed after having learned the ropes of film-making and various other facets of cinema.
