Mumbai, March 10 -- Ranbir Kapoor hasn't had a solo release in almost a yearand-a-half. He last did Abhinav Kashyap's Besharam in 2013. Since then, he has only been seen in an extended cameo in the recent film, Roy.
In the meantime, the actor has mostly made headlines for the delay of his maiden production venture. The release date of the film that stars Ranbir and his alleged girlfriend, Katrina Kaif, has been rescheduled almost five times. Now, an insider informs us that the actor has had enough of the shuffling, and doesn't want the release date changed again.
"Ranbir isn't very pleased with the way things have panned out. He has had a discussion with Anurag Basu (director of the sleuth caper) and they both have decided that they must meet the latest deadline," adds the insider.
The film was initially supposed to hit theatres in May 2014. Subsequently, it was pushed to August 2014, followed by a date in May 2015 and another in August 2015. Currently, the makers are aiming to get it ready by November this year.
The insider adds, "Once the shooting is complete, the special effects work will start. In between, Ranbir will also need to make time for the post-production and promotions of Anurag Kashyap's period film." The other films that the actor has lined up include director Imtiaz Ali's next with Deepika Padukone, and a multistarrer that will be produced and directed by Karan Johar.
"Ranbir's problem is that he has been juggling too many projects. That's why he hasn't been able to focus on the completion of his production," adds the insider. Ranbir and Anurag couldn't be reached for comments.
