Mumbai, Jan. 3 -- It seems like Ranbir Kapoor is 'running late' at the box office for a while now. For starters, his next, Vikramjit Singh's Roy was supposed to hit theatres last year itself, but now it will release next month.
Similarly, Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet got pushed to May (from late 2014). And now, trade insiders are saying that another one of Ranbir's films - his maiden production venture - with Anurag Basu, has apparently been pushed again from August to October this year.
"The film has been in the making since 2013 but owing to various reasons - Ranbir's multiple projects being the main cause - the shoot hasn't been completed. He is constantly trying to juggle all his films, which is leaving him with no time to focus solely on one project," says a trade insider. The Kapoor scion also has Imtiaz Ali's next, which is scheduled to release towards the end of 2015.
Reportedly, Basu's sleuth film was set to release in May, but was then postponed to August. Now, the buzz goes that since the shoot is still underway and will wrap up (along with some special effects work) only around March-April, he might not be able to make it in August either.
"In between, Ranbir will be involved with the post-production work of Kashyap's next and the promotions for which will also start around March. So, it's not likely that his production venture will release in August," adds the insider. Interestingly, Ranbir didn't have a single release in 2014.
Despite repeated attempts, neither Ranbir nor Basu could be reached for a comment.
