Ranbir Kapoor: 'Haven't achieved superstardom'

Mumbai, Sept. 28 -- Ranbir Kapoor turns 32 today (September 28). Even though the actor has had no releases this year, he has been busy preparing and shooting for an interesting line-up of movies, most of which will hit theatres in 2015.

Ask him what he feels about being titled the superstar of his generation at 32, and he underplays his image, saying, "I don't think I have achieved superstardom."

However, stardom, alone, is something he feels differently about. "Stardom to me means having freedom; the freedom of choice - to do what you want to... whether it's investing in a football team or in a film," says Ranbir, adding, "It also involves not following the herd or doing things out of insecurity. It's about individuality and making original choices. It's about taking risks."

Ever since he made his Bollywood debut with Saawariya back in in 2007, Ranbir has never been easily accessible. And that isn't going to be changing anytime soon, as the actor says he prefers remaining incommunicado most times. "That's intentional. It makes sense to say something when I have something to talk about, like at a press conference or during the promotions of a movie. If not, I'm always talking about my personal life, trying to contradict reports," says Ranbir, who insists that he doesn't owe clarifications to anyone. "I'm an actor. I'm here for people to talk about my work and I am proud of my work. Beyond that, I think it is really silly for me to say anything else."
