Bollywood: Showbiz on a charity run!

New Delhi, Dec. 13 -- Ranbir Kapoor, 32, and Anushka Sharma, 26, have put up on auction a few of their film costumes - Ranbir's pheran from Rockstar (2011) and Anushka's leather jacket from Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) - to raise money for flood-affected Kashmir and Assam. Both actors said they were "honoured and privileged to be able to contribute to the cause".

Amid shooting for their movies and promoting their upcoming projects, many celebrities from showbiz are making sure they do their bit for the society. The last two weeks have seen a host of actors taking time out to engage in several charitable causes.

While Deepika Padukone decided to help her school raise money for a new wing, Kareena Kapoor Khan took a step forward to ensure that schools are child-friendly. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra and Freida Pinto have also brought a global campaign to India, which advocates the cause of education for girls.


Deepika, 28, has decided to visit Bengaluru to attend a fundraiser which is being organised at her school - the Sophia High School - to raise funds for a new wing. "The school authorities also plan to use the funds to provide the students with better facilities and amenities," says a source.


Kareena has associated herself with UNICEF's Child-Friendly Schools and Systems (CFSS) campaign. "I recently visited quite a few schools with UNICEF to see child-friendly schools, and to meet some of the girls and boys who are benefiting from these programmes," the 34-yearold said in a statement.


Vivek is now the face of a paan masala brand, but wait! He has asked them to donate a part of their profit for an NGO which works for cancer patients. "The brand has agreed to give away approximately ' 25 lakh to the NGO apart from giving him his regular fee," a source close to the 38-year-old was quoted as saying.
