Mumbai, Jan. 17 -- It's been a special week for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. His Farhan Akhtar-starrer, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), had its premiere in Japan on Thursday (January 15), and was well received by the local audience.
Not many know that the film-maker lived in Japan for a few years in his twenties, so returning to the country after 30 years was special for him.
A source close to Mehra says, "Not may know that the he had lived in Japan for a few years in his younger days. Going back was an extremely nostalgic journey for him." To add to his joy, the film got a good response from the country's audience.
The source adds, "Everyone in the auditorium gave the film a standing ovation. Everyone went up and congratulated him on putting together the real-life journey of sprinter Milkha Singh. A new international edit of the film was made and this was the first time it was shown."
Mehra, who is currently working on his upcoming film, starring Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, left the shoot for three days to visit Japan. When contacted, he confirms the news and adds, "It felt very good to go back to a place where I spent a few formative years of my life. I was nostalgic and very happy. It was a great feeling."
