New Delhi, Jan. 23 -- Looks like Rahul Bhat has finally struck gold. After years of lull in his career, he recently turned heads with a killer act in Anurag Kashyap's thriller, Ugly, and now the actor is all set to romance Katrina Kaif in an upcoming romantic drama.
While Bhat's thrilled about his big break, asked if he's nervous about wooing one of Bollywood's top ladies, he confidently says, "Why should I be nervous? I am an actor... it's my job to act. As for sharing screen space with Katrina, of course I'm quite excited about it...she's a big name, and I'm definitely looking forward to working with her."
Elaborating on bagging the Abhishek Kapoor film, Bhat says that Kapoor was apparently floored by his performance in his last release, which helped Bhat make the cut.
"Abhishek called me saying that he was looking for an apt person for a long time who could do justice to this role. It's a very, very crucial character and a performance-oriented role. He said he liked my performance in Ugly a lot, and finally offered me to play the part. I play a Pakistani in the film," says Bhat, who was chosen over actors such as Saif Ali Khan and Fawad Khan, who were reportedly being considered for it.
"We start shooting in Kashmir, around the Dal Lake from the 27th of this month, and I'm so looking forward to it. It'll be a homecoming of sorts," says Bhat, who is from Srinagar himself.
Bhat, who made his acting debut 17 years back on the small screen with the show Heena, is also working in Sudhir Mishra's next alongside actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadda.
