Mumbai, Dec. 19 -- Time and again, he has proved his mettle as one of the best music composers in the country. Now, AR Rahman is broadening his horizons as he is all set to turn film producer with his maiden venture next year.
The double Oscar Award-winning artiste will produce the Bollywood film under his company, YM Movies. The company has previously only produced two music videos for his compositions 'Infinite love' and 'Changing seasons'.
Although rumours about Rahman's plans to turn producer have been doing the rounds for a while, he only confirmed the news earlier this week. "Once I am finished with all the work that's on my hands, I will focus on that (the production)," says Rahman.
Not many know that Rahman has apparently written the story of the film himself. It is believed to be about love and self-discovery. Apparently, the idea for the movie struck him during his several long flights between India and Los Angeles, USA. "We are finalising other details like the title and the cast. There are two or three directors' names we are considering right now. Very soon, someone will be finalised. We will announce it officially then," adds the composer, whose music will next be heard in Imtiaz Ali's Highway. "He and I work on a similar wavelength. He is always looking for commercial music which has an avant-garde kind of feel to it," says Rahman, who also composed the music for Imtiaz's Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, Rockstar (2011).
Besides this, Rahman is also busy with Shekhar Kapur's Paani and the Rajinikanth-starrer Kochadaiiyaan. His forthcoming projects also include a Saif Ali Khan-production and Imtiaz Ali's next (with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone) that is tentatively titled Window Seat.
