New Delhi, Feb. 28 -- Time was never this ripe for new talents in the Hindi music industry, and the latest voice to make the most of the opportunities is the Indo Canadian singer, Jonita Gandhi.

The young singer has sung along the Oscar-winning music composer, A R Rahman, in Imtiaz Ali's Highway.    Ask her about the experience and she says, "I have grown up listening to Rahman sir. It was a dream come true." She was spotted by singer Sonu Nigam during a singing competition that was held in Canada.

"I discovered I could sing at a very young age. So after my graduation, I shifted my base to Mumbai and initiated the process of meeting people and sharing my work with them through YouTube videos and auditioning," she says.

Jonita made her debut with the title track of Chennai Express, although recognition came with Highway's track, Kahan Hoon Main.

"Many people have tweeted saying they completely relate to the song and that it resonates with their life," she adds. On her hopes and fears, she says, "I don't expect anything from the music industry but I expect a lot from myself. I am now learning Hindustani classical music and hope to improve." Jonita is collaborating with AR Rahman again, for his upcoming album, Raunak.
