Mumbai, Dec. 24 -- They teamed up successfully on the 2009 blockbuster, 3 Idiots. And now, five years later, actor R Madhavan and film-maker Rajkumar Hirani have come together again, albeit not in the same capacity as their last venture.
The actor's latest offering - a sports drama caper - has got Hirani's banner on board as the presenter. This is the first time that the film-maker's recently launched company will be presenting a film.
"Since Madhavan's film has been made in two languages - Tamil and Hindi - Hirani decided to put his name behind it. Madhavan and Hirani have been close ever since the two worked together. So, when the opportunity arose, Hirani was happy to team up with Madhavan again," says an insider. The bilingual movie will feature Madhavan in the lead role as a boxing coach.
When contacted, Hirani says, "The entire attempt is to be associated with quality films, and I will support some films which I feel are good. If the people who have worked with me have good ideas, I will help them."
And not just Madhavan, Hirani was also attached with his other 3 Idiots actor, Sharman Joshi's 2012 film, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, for which he wrote the story and dialogues. Hirani, who started off as a director with Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), has turned to production with his latest Aamir Khan-starrer. Besides Madhavan's film, his company is also involved in the production of the upcoming Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar-starrer.
