Mumbai, Sept. 19 -- After her recent portrayal of Olympic medal-winning boxer Mary Kom in a biopic, Priyanka Chopra may already be preparing to play another real-life character - retired IPS (Indian Police Service) officer Kiran Bedi.
Bedi, India's first woman IPS officer, retired from active service in 2007, and has since anchored a TV show called Aap Ki Kachehri. She even played a part in Anna Hazare's demand for a Lokpal. Priyanka's spokesperson confirms the development, saying, "She [Priyanka] has been approached, but it's too early to speak about it."
An industry source adds, "Priyanka has been offered '10 crore for the role. If she likes the script, she will consider it." Reportedly, director Soham Shah (who made Kaal in 2005 and Luck in 2009) will be helming the project.
However, when we contacted Bedi, she seemed surprised: "I am not aware of it," she tells us. Later, in a text message to us, Bedi clarified that she is willing to consider it if approached: "Can't be decided like this. Send me a proposal. I can look at it (sic)."
