Mumbai, March 28 -- Many were surprised when filmmaker Prakash Jha announced that he would play the negative role of a tough cop in his next directorial, a sequel to his 2003 hit, Gangaajal. Now, it seems that he has changed his mind, and will play a positive character instead.
A source says, "There were reports claiming that he would play a manipulative senior cop in the film. But after discussions and various drafts of the script, the makers opted to have a younger villain. So, Manav Kaul will play the role now."
The film is set to go on the floors this May in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The source adds, "Jha's role is now a positive one. He will play a senior cop, who sides with the protagonist played by Priyanka Chopra. It's a full-fledged part."
Manav confirms that he has signed up for the film, saying, "I am playing a complex and interesting role. Do wait for an official announcement to know more."
