New Delhi, July 26 -- It's well known that before becoming an actor, Parineeti Chopra was a marketing executive at Yash Chopra's production house. During her stint there, she interacted with him and later on, went on to do five films under his banner. So, when an award show wanted to celebrate the late filmmaker's legacy, Parineeti was the perfect go-to person.
A source tells us, "Parineeti will dance to the hits from the director's films this weekend at the day-long function." The Mumbai event aims to celebrate NRIs who've made a mark for themselves on the global map. "A tribute to the late Yash Chopra makes sense since it was through his films that Bollywood went global," the source adds. The event is put together by actor Poonam Dhillon and philanthropist Anil Murarka.
"We wanted to do this for a long time. Parineeti will perform on Yash ji's songs. Alia Bhatt will also perform and Ayushmann Khurrana will host the event," says Murarka.
When contacted, Parineeti confirmed, "I'm honoured that Poonam ji asked me to pay a tribute to him. I hope I do a good job." The source says that since Parineeti couldn't act under Yash Chopra's direction, this is her way of being associated with him.
