Mumbai, Dec. 28 -- Leading ladies in Bollywood are known to be fiercely competitive, what with inside stories of catfights frequently doing the rounds. But when it comes to making comments in public about their peers' physical characteristics, personal lives and acting choices, they often resort to dull platitudes. So it is actually refreshing to see two young stars speaking their minds about each other, with one even taking a catty remark in her stride. We're talking about Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra.
In a yet-to-be-aired episode of Karan Johar's chat show, Alia will appear as a guest along with her Student Of The Year (2012) costars, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. When asked about her insecurity - vis-a-vis other young, talented actresses - Alia doesn't mince words. "Yes, there are times when you do feel insecure, and I think it's important for me because then I work harder," she says.
When Karan asks who specifically makes her insecure, she adds, "Parineeti. I think she's fantastic; she's so good that I wish I was that good. She's so effortless and her command over the language is something that I love."
However, Alia made a snide remark when asked whom she would gift the book, Style for Dummies. "I don't want to offend anyone but, because I think Parineeti is such a good actor, (but) I think she can do much better in that zone. She has a very pretty face," she says.
Parineeti, instead of hitting back, actually took the suggestion in good humour. When contacted, she says, "So true, I need them (styling tips). I'm learning and getting better, though." The actor also returned the compliment that Alia paid her, saying, "Alia doesn't need to be insecure at all. She's a brilliant actress. She's absolutely effortless in person as well as on screen. I'm a big fan of Alia and I've told her this many times."
