New Delhi, April 17 -- Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has made a successful career in films, and now, his brother is all set to enter showbiz.
Nawaz's younger brother Shamas Siddiqui has recently directed a short film, which will be screened at the Cannes International Film Festival next month, at the Short Film Cormer.
"I am very happy that my brother has got such a prestigious opportunity and I wish him all the luck and success. I am very happy," says Nawaz.
Shamas says that it was the social message of women emancipation, which motivated him to make this film. "The subject of the film drove me to make it. Women in rural areas have grave issues which are not known. Getting divorced or the practice of Halala is very common in rural India. These practices affect women a lot. I witnessed similar incidents that made me think about this topic and carve this film," he says, adding, "This is my small attempt in making this issue reach nationally and internationally, and I'm hoping it brings about some change," he says.
