Mohit Suri files a police case!

Mumbai, Feb. 23 -- For film-maker Mohit Suri, there seems to be no respite from imposters, as he seems to be dealing with one all over again. In January, Mohit had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell in Mumbai when someone created a fake Facebook account using his name and allegedly approached actors to offer them roles in his films.

Now, Mohit has reached out to the Mumbai Police again, as someone has assumed his identity and is now using a popular mobile chat application to contact actors. This impersonator is also calling actors posing as the director.

Mohit found out about this case when a few actors, who know him well, received calls from the imposter. "On February 20, these actors called me and told me that they had received calls and messages offering them a role in my film. They called me to crosscheck this fact, as they were suspicious," says Mohit.

On February 21, the director filed a complaint at the Khar Police Station. He also wrote a letter to the Mumbai Commissioner of Police. "I have sent the letter seeking an inquiry into the matter and I have filed a case with the Mumbai Police. I am sure they will catch whoever this is," says the director, who has helmed films such as Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Ek Villain (2014).

The film-maker says he also wants actors to know that he does not cast anyone directly, and leaves the job to his casting department.

"It's unfortunate that as public figures we have to pay the price for being famous," says Mohit.
