Mohit Suri: 'Aditya says I shouldn't hug him in public'

Mumbai, July 8 -- Mohit Suri is revelling in the success of his latest, which had Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead. The director seems to enjoy his angst-driven love stories, saying he doesn't "want to move away from them".

Here, he talks about reports claiming that his film was a rip-off of an international movie, rumours of a link-up with Shraddha and more.

Why are all your love stories about angst?    People like to entertain in different ways. Some like to touch your heart with laughter, song and dance, but I enjoy the emotional part of a film.

Was it tough to handle claims made by critics that your film was a copy of a Korean movie?    People can watch both films and judge for themselves. Except for few twists and turns, there is nothing [similar]. The villain is a sex offender in that film. The hero is a cop and it has none of the characters that are played by Shraddha, Remo Fernandes or Aamna Sharif in mine. I never pretended to be an original person. Everything I have done in films is from experiences and inspiration I have had in life, as well as movies that I have seen.

Having worked with Emraan Hashmi in five films, did you miss him in your last two projects?    Not really, as I will soon work with him again. We have reached a stage where we understand each other. He knows what I want by the look on my face. But he's a bigger star now than when I worked with him last.

Stories of your link-up with Shraddha refuse to die down.    I think I should be linked with Aditya [Roy Kapur] now. Every time I have a fight with Udita [Goswami; wife], I go and hide at his house. My car can be spotted under his building. I need to hug Aditya every time I see him and call him the love of my life, both of which he says I shouldn't in public. But I feel paternal towards him and Sharddha and I love them both. That won't change no matter what is said or written. Whether they are together or not, they met me at an emotional phase my life and helped me find myself.
