Television anchor turned actor, Manish Paul, is kicked about his Bollywood outing with Mickey Virus; and while on a recent visit to promote his film in HT City, he told us of all the female attention that he has been getting lately. The actor, who hosts a dance reality show on TV, loves holding onto actor and the show’s judge Madhuri Dixit’s sari pallu on the show; and he says that now girls request him to hold their sari pallus.
“Earlier when I would be at the airport, girls would come and stand next to me for a picture; then they asked me if they could hug me and get a picture; now ladies come to me and say, ‘Can you hold my sari pallu for a picture?’. So I am actually standing at the airport holding a pallu,” he laughs. Paul adds that on a recent visit to a Pune college, he returned, almost, without a T-shirt. “I went to this college and suddenly I felt hands inside my T-shirt and I said ‘excuse me’ and suddenly I was topless. My T-shirt was with the girls and they were happy with the bits of it. I asked my manager to get me another T-shirt,” he says.
The 32-year-old, who looked trendy in a casual tee and jeans, made quite a style statement with his neon shoes. We asked him if he finds Bollywood to be a better medium than TV and he said that while he had always dreamt of doing movies, he will never quit TV. “My film is about to release and other anchors would be thinking that ‘he’s doing films now’, but even in the next Jhalak (Dikhla Ja), I’ll be holding Madhuri Ma’am’s pallu,” he laughs.
Talking about Mickey Virus, that also stars Bigg Boss 7 contestant Elli Avram, he says that he has incorporated many of his personal characteristics in the film. “I call my mother ‘poppi’, so my character in the movie also does that. We were discussing that everybody has been using ‘bebe’ and all. Even when my mother calls me, I don’t say pari paina, I say, ‘Hanji poppi, ki haal hai’,” he chuckles.
