New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Promoting a film from the time it goes on the floor, is a norm these days. However, director Madhur Bhandarkar has decided to break the routine with his next, Calendar Girls. The director has decided that the identity of the five girls who play the main characters in the film, which traces the journey of models who feature in glam calendars, will be kept under wraps.
In fact, Madhur and the film's producer Sangeeta Ahir have gone a step ahead and bound the girls with a unique contract with the production house, Mangal Murti Films. Ahir says that this is, in fact, the USP of the film. "We made them sign a non-disclosure agreement by which not only can they not sign any other film, but also not give interviews or tell anybody that they are our calendar girls. The idea is that when we unveil these fresh faces before the film releases in May next year, it should be a jaw-dropping sight ... like, yes! We've given something 'wow' to the industry. The girls are being groomed now," she says.
The Calendar Girls have their date with destiny on 01.05.2015. "We chose an unique date for the release because that will only justify the concept ... dates are important when it comes to calendar girls," explains Ahir. Meanwhile, Bhandarkar, too, is kicked about the film. "Five new faces, five new journeys and five destinations ... I really hope they all make it big one day," he says.
