Mumbai, April 18 -- A few days ago, we revealed that model-turned actor Lisa Haydon had been finalised opposite Akshay Kumar in the upcoming Shaukeen (1982) remake. The makers are happy about the fresh casting since Akshay hasn't shared screen space with Lisa in the past.
And it's not just Akshay; big names like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan will also be paired with leading ladies who they haven't worked with before in their respective careers.
And experts agree that a fresh pair does "create curiosity". "I am always looking out for something new. You can't have same thing over and over again. Just like how you have various genres, ideas and structures, audiences want to see different people coming together in a similar vein," says Raj Nidimoru, one half of director duo Raj-DK. They have cast Ileana D'Cruz opposite Saif in their upcoming film, Happy Ending.
But it's not just about having pretty, new faces on the screen alongside big stars; models like Vaani Kapoor, Lisa and Manasvi Mamgai also get to showcase their acting prowess in these films.
Nidimoru, however, admits that a fresh pair comes with its "own share of risks." He says, "You have to work on it, but the rewards can easily match up to what an established pair gets." Fan SRK will work with director Maneesh Sharma and Vaani for the first time.
Names like Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma were doing the rounds, but Vaani made the final cut. But the spokesperson of Aditya Chopra's production house maintains, "The leading lady has not been finalised for Fan."
