Katrina Kaif has always shied away from the media. You barely hear her say anything, make any comments, or make any unnecessary media appearances. But for the first time she opens up.
“Salman has been an extremely important part of my life and in my process in films. He, his parents and sisters are very good friends of mine. They are amazing people. They are the most respectful people I have ever met. He (Salman) is an amazing person. He is very unique. You don’t meet many people like Salman in the world. He will always remain very important part of my life. Without him my journey could have been difficult,” says the gorgeous Kat, who once upon a time made quite an item with Salman Khan.
We do agree that Salman Khan played a huge rule in Katrina’s success in Bollywood. But Kaif also credits Akshay Kumar for giving her some of her early hits. After all, her debut film Boom was a disaster, as she acknowledges.
“I was 18 years old and new to this industry, I wanted to be known in every Indian household. Now I want to focus further on my craft and work on different aspects of my personality”, talks the now very mature actress.
Her mother has been her inspiration, and the fact that she has lived in 13 different countries while growing up has added a lot of character to her. “You can throw me into any culture and I’d adapt. When I finally came to India, the warmth and openness of the people, especially in Mumbai where I live, made me feel that I am home.”
There were also some ridiculously silly questions thrown at Kat, which she answered with a lot of diplomacy and professionalism. Like when she was asked who is a better actor, Salman or Ranbir. “I am no one to comment who is a better actor between Salman and Ranbir. They are very different. Their approaches and techniques are different. I get hurt when people put me in certain categories.”
When asked about Deepika Padukone controversies, she says: “I am not going to speak about my personal life as much as I love and respect you. I also read time to time things about me and her. They are very untrue. We are all co-stars. I don’t have any animosity with anyone.”
Katrina also isn’t really active on the social media platform, unlike most actresses like Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt. Why? Because of negative elements and privacy issues! Maybe she has taken boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor’s approach of steering clear form social media! Yet, the actor has somewhere made peace with the no privacy deal. “We live such privileged lives as actors that it’s rather petty to complain about a few newspaper articles we do not like.”
Now that’s a brand new introduction to today’s Katrina Kaif! This interview shows that Kat really has grown up a lot over the past few years, and is quite a sensitive girl at heart.
