New Delhi, April 3 -- It has become a status symbol of sorts for Bollywood stars to have a life-like wax statue at the popular Madame Tussauds wax museum in London.
The latest to join the list of the several desi stars at the museum is actor Katrina Kaif (above), who unveiled her wax statue on March 28, as part of Madame Tussauds' "15 years of Bollywood" celebration.
Kat's statue is seen striking a dancing pose while wearing a sequined white, silver and gold two-piece outfit. We take a look at the other Bollywood celebs who have been immortalized in wax at the museum in the past 15 years.
Madhuri Dixit - 2012
The life-like wax statue of the dancing diva Madhuri Dixit was unveiled at Madame Tussauds London in 2012, becoming only the second Bollywood leading lady after Aishwarya to receive the honour. The 47-year-old actor's replica can be seen dressed in a pink Manish Malhotra sari. "If I had a twin sister, she would look like this," said Madhuri at the unveiling.
Amitabh Bachchan - 2000
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan was the first Bollywood star, in fact, the first living Asian actor, whose wax statue was placed inside the museum in the year 2000 after being nominated by fans in a global poll. Interestingly, his wax statues are also at the other Madame Tussauds museums in New York, Washington, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - 2004
After Big B, it was actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's turn to get a life-like wax statue at Madame Tussauds in 2004. The statue is dressed in a embroidered chiffon sari wearing a kundan set. Another wax figure of the 41-year-old actor was displayed at the museum's New York chapter in 2007.
Hrithik Roshan - 2011
Actor Hrithik Roshan's wax statue at the museum is a mirror replica of his look in a Dhoom 2 song. The 41-year-old's statue, which was unveiled in 2011, is dressed in a short sleeve shirt left open to reveal six pack abs, along with low wais denims. Hrithik's statue is reportedly one of the most kissed statues in the museum.
Kareena Kapoor Khan - 2011
Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan's statue at Madame Tussauds saw two iterations since it was first displayed in 2011. The first statue was dressed in a black top and harem pants, modeled after her Jab We Met look. The second wax replica of the actor, in a red sari with gold waist detailing, was unveiled at the museum in 2014.
Salman Khan - 2008
Shah Rukh Khan's once bitter rival, and now friend, Salman Khan, got his wax statue displayed at the museum in 2008, becoming the forth Bollywood celebrity to join the coveted list. Sallu's statue can be seen striking a very filmy pose - in a black vest and denims, and carrying a jacket over his shoulders.
Shah Rukh Khan - 2007
In 2007, actor Shah Rukh Khan became the third Indian film star to get his wax statue displayed at the famous museum in London. Seen in a dapper black suit, the statue tries to play it real with SRK's dimples. "What I like most are my eyes," the actor had said when asked about his wax replica.
