Mumbai, Jan. 19 -- Kareena Kapoor Khan, who enthralled the audience with her near-perfect portrayal of a Punjabi girl from Bhatinda, Punjab, in Jab We Met (2007), is yet again set to play a character who is supposed to be fluent in Punjabi, in Abhishek Chaubey's next. To make her role more authentic, the actor will take tutorials in the language.
Though Kareena's father is Punjabi, she is apparently not very well-versed with the language, and hence, will resort to the help of Delhi University professor, Rajat Singh, to teach her the language properly. "Kareena needs to have a good grip on the language, and complement it with thick accent as her lines are mostly in Punjabi in the film. So, she thought it would be best to get trained," says a source close to the actor.
However, Kareena will need some balancing as currently she is also busy shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan opposite Salman Khan, and would soon get tied up with the planning of Soha Ali Khan's (her sister-in-law) wedding with actor Kunal Khemu.
When contacted, the actor's spokesperson confirmed the news, saying, "The Delhi professor has been called to Mumbai, and Kareena will take a 10-day training to understand the language. She will start with the sessions after her item song shoot for Karan Johar's film."
