Mumbai, April 4 -- In 2007, Kareena Kapoor Khan's vivacious portrayal of a Sikh girl in Jab We Met (JWM), got her several accolades.
Now, eight years later, the actor is set to step into the shoes of a Sikh girl yet again in Abhishek Chaubey's next. However, we are told that her character in the new film will be completely different from the one in JWM.
"Unlike the chirpy, happy-go-lucky college girl that she played in Imtiaz's (Ali; director) film, Kareena's character in her next will be a bit sombre and edgy. Also, while her character was from Bhatinda in JWM, in Abhishek's film, she plays a working girl from Amritsar. Hence, her clothes and the overall look in this one are going to be different," says an insider.
Kareena, who is currently shooting with co-star Diljit Dosanjh for the film across Punjab, is making sure that even her body language is in contrast to the memorable character of Geet in JWM. "The film's premise is more serious ious than that of JWM, so that difference has to come out," adds the insider.
In fact, in keeping with her Amritsari girl image in the he film, Kareena is believed to have also taken n Punjabi lessonss from a Delhi University profesfsor. She is supposed to converse extensively in the language in the film.
