Mumbai, Oct. 21 -- Last year, a mini feud of sorts had begun after Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's first choice as heroine in Ram-Leela, walked out of the film. Now, however, the issue seems to have sorted itself out. We have come to know that Kareena will soon be seen in Bhansali's next production, Gabbar, starring Akshay Kumar.
Telugu film-maker Krish will direct the Hindi version of the 2002 Tamil hit, Ramana.
"Kareena has a special appearance. She has given her nod in principle, but the paperwork is yet to be done," says an industry insider. Since the original film also had two heroines (Simran and Ashima Bhalla), makers were working hard to zero in on the leading ladies for some time now. "Both characters are equally important. They have already finalised Shraddha (Kapoor) for one of the roles. Kareena is a professional and will take up interesting roles regardless of issues," adds the insider.
The problem, incidentally, had cropped up when Kareena opted out of the Ram-Leela and it immediately resulted in reports that Bhansali didn't want his heroine to be married. The actor was about to tie the knot with Saif Ali Khan at that time. But later, she fumed - in an interview - stating that she walked out of the film due to date issues. "...such stories about me being replaced because I am getting married are floated by PR machineries on an overdrive! So people; just back off and let me focus on my work (sic)!" she had said earlier.
Despite repeated attempts, neither Kareena nor Bhansali could be reached for a comment.
