Mumbai, Jan. 16 -- The granddaughters of the original showman Raj Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, now have plans to walk in his footsteps, but on their own terms. Choosing not to revive their family banner, RK Films, the duo has instead decided to launch their own production house.
Though the process of setting it up is underway, details are being kept under wraps.
Says a source, "Kareena and Karisma have been toying with the idea of starting a production house that churns out mass entertainers that appeal to a wide spectrum of audiences. They may also act together in the first production since audiences are extremely keen to see the sisters share screen space."
It is a strange coincidence that none of the fourth-generation Kapoors have shown any inclination towards reviving the prestigious RK banner. Even Ranbir chose to start his own production house.
Incidentally, the Kapoor sisters aren't the first leading ladies to dabble in production. In recent years, Shilpa Shetty, Lara Dutta, Dia Mirza, Sushmita Sen and Anushka Sharma have all launched their banners with varying degrees of success.
