Karan Johar: Nothing can change our equation!

New Delhi, Feb. 25 -- Karan Johar has been busy celebrating the success of his latest production, while also tackling rumours about his next. The buzz around actors Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor now not being a part of his upcoming film, Shuddhi, is making the director react strongly against friendships gone sour.

After Hrithik Roshan's exit from Shuddhi, a lot has been written about the cast, including rumours about Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh doing the role. What's happening?

There's a lot of conjecture about the film, but the final cast will be announced soon. We are definitely releasing the film in December 2015. The rumour mills have gone overboard and are crazy as only Karan Malhotra (director), our team and I know what's happening exactly.

Why did you feel you had to tweet the release date?

There were certain reports insinuating that the film was shelved, which is far from the truth. It's one of the most important and biggest films we are producing. We are excited about the narrative, screenplay, and Karan's vision. I had to tweet to slam all rumours suggesting that it was shelved. In fact, we roll in a few months.

With Hrithik and Kareena Kapoor Khan not in the film anymore, is there a change in the equation between all of you?

I have a major relationship with Hrithik and Kareena (sic). I've deep amount of respect and love for them, so no film can change the close bond I share with them. We are and will continue to be close friends and nothing can come in the way of that.

With so many projects at hand, is it tough to juggle everything?

When you don't have a personal life, 24 hours are devoted to your profession. My business is my pleasure and I enjoy every bit of it. For me, doing a series of different things and having multiple collaborations are my energisers and keep me going. I don't consider myself busy, but blessed.

You must be happy with the success of your protege Sidharth Malhotra's second release, Hasee Toh Phasee (HTP), which is also your production.

I'm thrilled. It's great when a film is not only viable at the box office, but also garners love and affection. As for Sidharth, we're proud of him. Parineeti (Chopra), too, has lots of love coming her way.

You are also adapting foreign films, including The Intouchables (2011) and Priceless (2006).

Yes, I became a big fan of The Intouchables ever since I saw it on the opening night at a festival a few years ago. It is a wonderful, moving film and when Guneet (Monga) said she was striking a deal with them, I asked if I could be part of it. I hope to adapt and develop it into a wonderful film in the near future. As for Priceless, we haven't still cast for it and will soon do so. Tarun (Mansukhani) is working on it. The love story is risque yet connects. It will be a good film to make.
