Mumbai, Sept. 27 -- It was recently announced that Rohit Shetty will work with Karan Johar for the first time on the remake of Subhash Ghai's 1989 film, Ram Lakhan.
When asked how they came up with the idea of remaking the Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff-starrer, Rohit says, "It was Karan's idea. He suggested that we should work on it and I agreed because I think it's a great film."
While Ghai is co-producing the remake, he is happy that Rohit is set to direct it. Have they finalised the script and cast for the film yet? "It's too early for all that. I'm currently working on Shah Rukh Khan's film, and will work on the script for Ram Lakhan remake post that. It will go on the floors in 2016," says Rohit.
While there were reports that Rohit's film with Shah Rukh is a remake of an Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, the film-maker rubbishes the news, saying, "It's not a remake. When I made Bol Bachchan (2012), we'd announced that it was the remake of Gol Maal (1979). Same goes for the Ram Lakhan remake. Since we have been candid about the projects we work on, there is no question of hiding anything."
