Mumbai, Jan. 12 -- It has been almost seven years since Tarun Mansukhani made his directorial debut with Dostana (2008), which starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.
Post the film's success, news of a sequel, Dostana 2, did the rounds for quite some time. Unfortunately, despite several announcements, including some about the cast (Katrina Kaif was apparently in the running), it never materialised.
Karan Johar, who produced Dostana, and was also set to produce the sequel, then roped Tarun in to helm the Hindi adaptation of Priceless (2006). But this project, too, never took off. Now, Tarun has written a new script that Karan has agreed to produce.
Confirming the news, Karan says, "I am happy to announce that Tarun has written an amazing script and we will start casting for the film soon. At times, you have to take a break, because there are situations and circumstances that are not always professional. Tarun is exceptionally talented and his first film was a landmark... I have great faith in him. He is one of the most loyal members of my team and can give his life for me."
Before making his debut as a director, Tarun assisted Karan on films such as including Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001).
