New Delhi, May 27 -- Stand-up comic Sunil Grover, who shot to fame as Gutthi on fellow comedian Kapil Sharma's show, Comedy Nights With Kapil, may return to the show after an abrupt exit last year.
A source close to Grover says, "There are discussions about Sunil returning to Kapil's show. If he feels that the contract suits him and he will get creative satisfaction, then he will come back to the show. He will take a week's time to decide. His fans have been telling him that they miss him on the show."
When we contacted Grover, he neither confirmed nor denied his plan to re-enter the show. "I don't want to comment on this," he said.
While it was rumoured that Grover quit Kapil's show due to creative and monetary differences, he never confirmed these reports. After quitting, he featured in a new comedy show, Mad In India, that went on air in February and was taken off earlier this month, due to low TRPs.
When Kapil was earlier asked if Grover would come back on his show, he, too, had expressed his wish to have him back. "If he (Sunil) wishes to come, then he is most welcome. I never wanted him to go either, but it was his own decision. There was something special when we worked together. I even had a chat with him on this before he left," Kapil had said.
When we contacted the channel that airs Kapil's show to confirm the development, the spokesperson said, "There is nothing official on this development as of now."
However, a source from the channel said, "Kapil and Sunil had a discussion about Sunil's return to the show. We will have to wait and watch if it happens."
