Mahatma Gandhi inspires Kangana!

Kangana Ranaut

Mumbai, Jan. 19 -- In an industry where success often leads to a sense of self-importance, Kangana Ranaut exudes a rare confidence and poise. "I am a very content person. I don't need 10 missed calls on my phone, and I don't need to make people wait for me at an event, just to feel important," she says.

And the Queen (2014) actor makes a conscious effort to stay that way. "I need to have my nurturing time. I read books, write my thoughts, meditate and do yoga," says the 27-year-old, who has become an inspiration for many, because of the strong stand she often takes. For instance, she turned down item numbers because she "wouldn't let directors roast and grill" her body.

As for Kangana, she finds her inspiration in the ideologies of world leaders. "I often read Mahatma Gandhi's My Experiments With Truth and the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, and I try to imbibe many of those things in my life and attitude. The science of action, the power of truth and the need to be brutally honest with oneself - these are some of the things I believe in," she says.
