Aamir Khan has done it in the past — he has said that he doesn’t attend the Bollywood films awards because he finds them insignificant.
Now, it seems Kangana Ranaut is walking down the same road. The 27-year-old actor, who charmed audiences with her latest release, says that she won’t attend any more awards ceremonies.
Kangana says, "I’ve done that when I was younger. I’ve attended awards shows when I had entered the industry, but I don’t feel like it anymore. Frankly, it doesn’t add up to anything."
Kangana has, in the past, won a few awards, and looks like a prime candidate for a few more this year. So, her decision to say no to these comes as a surprise now. But she explains, saying, "I have many awards at home, and it feels nice to have them. I won some when I made my debut, and even won a National Award a few years ago. But in spite of that, I was almost jobless for two years. I think we give them too much respect and, have frankly, overhyped them."
This year, so far, the actor hasn’t attended any film awards. She says, "I rejected about four awards for Queen and Krrish 3 (2013). I’m not going to attend any awards ceremonies in the future, and the reason is simple — my priorities have changed. Spending time with my friends is more important than attending these.”
She also says that she has a “lot of other things to do", and that she’d rather use to the time to prepare for her film roles.
She says, "There’s a lot of research that I’ve got to do for my next, so I’ll be busy with that now. I think, as you grow older and more mature, the fascination (for awards) reduces."
