New Delhi, March 14 -- Actor Kalki Koechlin has been a part of many critically- acclaimed films, but her upcoming film, in which she plays a girl with cerebral palsy seems to be a tad more special. The film traces upon the radical subjects of disability and sexuality.
Talking about the film, which has been making rounds of various international film festivals, the 31-year-old actor says, "I think it's a radical subject in general. We don't talk about disability and sexuality on the same page in movies. Very rarely, in fact ... I have only seen one film featuring Helen Hunt, The Sessions (2012), which deals with this issue."
Is the Indian audience ready for such out-of-the-box films? "I think, we don't give enough credit to Indian audience. Indian audience is mature, and ready for cinema. We are anyways exposed to a lot, through the Internet and world cinema. So why not, I think Indian janta will like the film."
We have also liked her in commercial masala films with multiple song and dance sequences in it. So we asked Kalki if we could expect some more spice from her end.
"I want to do more song and dance films, but they don't come my way. Last was Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013), but I am working on a film called Love Affair with Soni Razdaan which has lots of song and dance. So don't worry, I shall be back!"
