New Delhi, June 20 -- Jimmy Sheirgill is currently basking in the glory of his latest release, Tanu Weds Manu Returns. And the actor says he never expected the kind of love that his character, Raja Awasthi - Tanu's (Kangana Ranaut) ex-fiance in the film - has garnered.
"People have been telling me that they want to see more of Raja. This is really encouraging. I didn't expect this kind of response. It was totally Kangana's story. I never thought my character would make a mark," he says.
As for the film, Sheirgill says he was confident that it would do well. "I always knew it. Once you complete shooting a film, you can tell if it'll do well. You get positive vibes while shooting the film," says the actor, who has been part of films such as Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), My Name Is Khan (2010) and A Wednesday! (2008).
Sheirgill is clear that the length of the role doesn't matter to him. "Screen time has never bothered me. Even if I have only one scene in a film, I always try to think about how I can make that scene perfect," he says.
However, what matters to the actor is "a good rapport" with the director, cast and crew of the film. "(For instance) I had one scene in Bang Bang (2014) and I did that only because I shared a good rapport with Siddharth (Anand; the film's director)," says Sheirgill.
