Mumbai, March 21 -- Actor Jackky Bhagnani is excited about his upcoming film, Youngistaan, where he plays a young Prime Minister. While some political dramas have courted controversy in the past, his film has managed to garner support from leaders across parties.
Recently, Aaditya Thackeray, president of the youth wing of the Shiv Sena, also tweeted his support for the film: "Happened to see trailers of Youngistan! @jackkybhagnani it seems to give a fresh, cool n young look to politics, yet real! Much needed today (sic)."
Jackky is obviously elated. "It is great that (Aaditya) tweeted about it. It means a lot, also because he did that on his own accord. I haven't met him, but I really admire his work. It's a great moment for my film," he says.
And that's not all the praise that the film is getting. "I recently met Milind Deora, a leader I find really impressive, and he also said such nice things. Then, there are others who are talking about it. I am really humbled by all this. You know, I am this small fish in the ocean, but if the rushes of my film have made this impact already, I feel really grateful. After all, we all want our hard work to be recognised," says the 29-year-old actor.
However, he also clarifies that the film doesn't intend to preach. "It doesn't say things like, desh ki halat kharab hai (the situation is bad in the country). Through this film, we are trying to say you have to be the change you want to see," says the F.A.L.T.U. (2011) actor, adding, "I hope people start thinking that politicians can be young and honest, just how Aaditya has pointed out."
