New Delhi, May 28 -- Actor Jackky Bhagnani and his father, producer Vashu Bhagnani, are set for their next film, Welcome to Karachi, and Jackky is sure that it'll repeat the history that his father's production, Biwi No.1 (1999), had created at the box office 16 years ago.
"We are releasing our film on May 28 - a Thursday, and not May 29, a Friday, which is usually the norm. We chose this day because it holds a lot of significance for us," says Jackky, who visited HT House recently with his co-star, actor Lauren Gottlieb.
He explains, "Exactly 16 years ago, my father's production, Biwi No. 1 released on the same date. The Cricket World Cup was also on around the time. Everyone told my father not to release the film but he was confident that people will still watch it. The film became that year's highest grosser. So we, too, are releasing our film on this day."
Both Jackky and Lauren assure that the film, which also features actor Arshad Warsi, is a fun, light-hearted comedy, "which you can watch with the entire family". Lauren adds, "The film is a complete entertainer and my role is not just a filler in the film."
