Mumbai, May 6 -- The release date of director Anurag Basu's upcoming sleuth film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif is still uncertain. But if all goes well, a sequel to his 2007 film, Life In A Metro, may soon be on the floors.
An industry source reveals that Anurag has already started working on the script for the sequel. "He has got an idea, and he is in the process of fleshing it out right now," says the source.
The film-maker is apparently planning to retain a few members of the original cast in the sequel too. Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma are expected to be one of the lead pairs. "He might also introduce new characters in the sequel," says the source. The original film also starred Sharman Joshi, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Kangana Ranaut, among others.
Anurag, who hasn't had a release since Barfi! (2012), is likely to start work on the project once his sleuth film releases. "He is hoping to start shooting for the film by the end of this year," adds the source.
When we asked Irrfan whether he would be willing to reunite with Anurag for the project, he said, "I am looking forward to working with him again. Perhaps, we will start something this year itself. He is working on a couple of scripts; let's see which he takes up first."
