Mumbai, Feb. 2 -- Irrfan Khan's Indo-German drama, about a Sikh man displaced during the partition of 1947, will release in India on February 20. The film will also have a simultaneous release on DVD and VOD (video on demand).
Excited with the release date being confirmed after a few delays, Irrfan says, "This film is extremely close to my heart. It was a different role."
Explaining the reason behind releasing the film simultaneously on different platforms, Nina Lath Gupta, managing director of National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) that has produced the film, reveals, "We are leveraging the digital revolution to make our portfolio accessible to a pan-Indian audience, and developing a distribution model that goes beyond the traditional release pattern."
