Mumbai, March 7 -- Not many know that Irrfan Khan's wife, Sutapa Sikdar, also has a Bollywood connect. Although she's not an actor, she has penned dialogues for movies such as Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Supari (2003; the film also featured Irrfan) and Shabd (2005), among others. Now, she is working on a script that will be produced by her actor-husband.
When contacted, Irrfan confirmed the news, saying, "Sutapa is trying to develop a subject along with a director from Kolkata. They've already finalised the story. I don't know whether I will star in it or not, but I will definitely produce it." Irrfan has also produced The Lunchbox (2014) and Nishikant Kamat's next, which will release soon. Apart from that, he will also co-produce director Sai Kabir's film, which will be an Indo-French production.
When asked if Sutapa would also like to turn director eventually, Irrfan was non-committal. "I don't know," he said, adding, "Sutapa has a mind of her own, and she does what she wants to."
Besides films, the couple has worked together when Irrfan directed episodes of the TV series, Banegi Apni Baat, that was written by Sutapa.
