Krrish 3 figures aren’t fudged: Hrithik Roshan

Actor Hrithik Roshan has come down heavily on detractors who have alleged that the box office collections of his latest film Krrish 3 (2013) are fudged. On Tuesday evening, Hrithik wrote on Facebook, “Some from d industry and certain sections of the media are hellbent on putting me, my father and Krrish 3 down. I have maintained my silence until now but these derogatory manipulations need to stop. Krrish 3 has done a business of about 244cr india and around 55cr overseas (sic).”

For sometime now, there have been reports claiming that the official figures of Krrish 3, given out by Rakesh Roshan’s (Krissh 3’s director and Hrithik’s father), are bloated. In fact some media reports have suggested that the actor moved out of his father’s house since he did not agree with  the latter fudging the figures.

However, Hrithik’s angry statement has left everyone wondering who he was referring to, as his detractors. “I wonder who these people are who have been so affected by these numbers and my success. Are they the ones I call my friends, I wonder... (sic)” he posted.  He ended the post by saying, “And one last thing about my father and me as a team — WE’V ONLY JUST BEGUN!”

Trade experts have reacted to Hrithik’s outburst. “The collection of all the versions (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi) of Krrish 3 in India is Rs. 220 crore. I can’t give an official figure of overseas collection of the film but it should be somewhere between Rs. 45 to Rs. 48 crores,” says film trade analyst Komal Nahta.

However, another trade analyst, on condition of anonymity, says, “I have been told by the Film Distributors’ Association that Krishh 3’s collections are not more than  Rs. 180 crore.”

Another source from the industry says, “Sometimes a star’s rivals leak the actual collections of a film to the media, just to tell the world that their own are higher.”

Actors and producers, in the past, have admitted to the practice of fudging collection figures. “I’d be a fool if I told you that nobody inflates figures,” actor Saif Ali Khan has said in the past.
