Mumbai, Oct. 31 -- During Eid, Shah Rukh Khan hit approximately 3,700 screens with his festival release, Chennai Express, and earlier this month, Ranbir Kapoor's Besharam opened with the same number of screens.
But it looks like Hrithik Roshan might up that number. The latest buzz in trade circles is that his upcoming film, Krrish 3, might have the widest domestic release with over 4,000 screens.
"The idea is to give the film a big release considering it has a fan base among kids. The makers want to reach all parts of the country," says a trade insider. That's probably why the makers are reportedly planning to release their film in over 250 screens each in Tamil and Telugu too.
"Rakesh Roshan (director) and his team are in the final stages of talks about finalising the number of prints," adds the insider.
When contacted, Roshan says, "I don't want to give out a random figure. Let things get finalised and then I will be able to talk about it." Senior trade analyst Amod Mehra adds, "Let's hope so (about the highest number of screens). The booking is still on. There should be more clarity on it by Thursday or Friday."
