Aamir, SRK & Salman are stars, not me: Harsh Kapoor

Harshvardhan Kapoor comes from an illustrious film family that boasts of many stars, but the actor, who just debuted with Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s Mirzya, says he is not trying to be a star.

“I don’t know if I am going to be a star. I am not trying to be one. Your box office receipt decides if you will be a star or not. It’s not always your work. There are some conscious decisions that actors take so that they maintain the status and reach out to more people in the world. I am doing something different; If I become a star then it is great otherwise I am an actor,” says Kapoor, son of actor Anil Kapoor, and brother of actor Sonam Kapoor and filmmaker Rhea Kapoor.

Though he is just one film old in the film industry, the 24-year-old seems to have a clear idea of what fame means to an actor. “It’s business and money is important. So a star is someone who can deliver an ‘x’ amount regardless of the film’s content. That is a star. We are not stars. Stars are Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. People will go and watch their film on the first day. That is stardom,” he says.

The actor has already signed two films with filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane and Sriram Raghavan, and is game for letting filmmakers tap the potential in him. “I believe acting is a director’s medium completely. The director is the one who tells the story. I look for subjects which are very personal for the director and luckily I have found that. I look for master directors,” Harshvardhan adds.
